I’m an out of college associate for a research company, and living at home has afforded me the opportunity to save up some money. I currently have an an online account and hold some ETF’s, but am looking to become a little more involved in terms of ; rather then letting my money sit in a checking account. Where can i find a forum or good site that discusses ?

Dave Ramsey is the man of finance I adore. You can find him on the web and his books in the bookstore. He also has financial advisors he endorses all over the country. Check his website to find one near you. He also has a radio program that you can listen to and call in for financial advice. You can hear the archives of his radio broadcast at his site. Sorry, I don’t remember the name of the site, but you should find it easily by typing in his name into your search engine.

Go to your bank and talk with an IRA or CD investment counselor. You can get some fair rates before the Fed meets again. I just got 5.75% on a 12-mo. IRA. Be sure to take a list of questions with you. Consider benefits of pre-tax or post-tax investments. Don’t let them dump you into the stock market unless you can afford to lose ALL of it.

Ask around… but choose asking people a quite a bit older than you due to the majority of people under 30 not caring at all about investing.

Read read read !! Ric Edelman is a start. Search him on the web here. He has valuable guidelines to change your way of thinking about money.

If you have an online broker account already, read up on a company you find interesting and then invest in it.

Make friends who those who know MORE than you and learn from them. You have nothing to gain by hanging around people who suck you dry of money and energy. Not saying you can’t have a stupid friend but certainly limit time spent with them and certainly do not take and use any advice from them.

While others spend on stuff that costs them money, I prefer to buy things that will make me more money. Everyone can if they simply CHOOSE to. By asking here you should get a wide variety of ideas to go with and websites to check out!

Good luck with this GOOD question!! : )

A good place to start would be to get some top-notch stock investing books. Here’s a useful list:
