1. Read about market theory, fundamentals, chart theory, etc. There’s plenty of good information out there.
2. Set up a buy list. I like XL.
3. Rank your stocks by fundies, techs, and sector performance.
4. Be patient and watch them for some time til the right buying opportunity comes by. Right now the market is a little overbought (pricey)
5. Navigate around etrade and become familiar with how to place orders, and especially limit orders.
6. Never buy during pre or post market hours. There’s a lot of shenanigans going on there and not much volume.
7. Do some practice trades first with out putting in your hard earned money.
