  • I want to buy stock and invest, what's the best way to go about it? Online? E*Trade?

I am 23 y/o college student, and I was just looking to invest and stuff for my future. My friend, has and does well. So is online the best way to get into buying yourself? Is there a nice online place to do this. What is involved in buying/trading ? I mean I have a retirement setup from work, but that’s an automatic deduction and I don’t really mess with it as much. I am hoping will give me some more control.

  • Stock market help, simple question about trading stocks…?

Okay, I’m sort of new to , but now quite. I currently through Sharebuilder, even though I’m beginning to not like them so much. A lot of "fine print", if you know what I mean. Anyways, here’s my problem:

I bought a stock, 5,000 shares at .09 cents. I meant to buy at .05 cents, and that’s what my confirmation said before I placed the order, but I didn’t realize that the quote of the are 20 mins delayed. Sharebuilder doesn’t offer actual real-time quotes, imagine that. Anyways, my account ended up a couple of hundred dollars short, mainly because it still processed as 5,000 shares at {content}.09. Anyways, I put a limit order in to sell all of the shares when they hit $.010, low and behold, it hit 0.10 today, but my shares haven’t been sold. Called SB, and they said for large orders, it could take a couple of days over a few different trades, and that I would be charged .95 for each .

Is there a better place or way to do these types of trades? Thanks!

  • Where can I get free mentoring on how the stock market works/how to trade stocks online?

I am considering attending a seminar on how to become wealthy online. Its a 2 hour drive and a hundred dollars to register, and I have a feeling it may be more sales pitch for seminar 2,3 and there books/software. I’ve always been interested in learning about how the works and how to use it. I would like to know if there are any good online courses, tutorials, or webinars that anyone might recommend. Oh yeah and it would be real nice to find something that is free.

  • If I own commodity shares, how easy is it for me to sell them?

I realize that is something that is done on volume, unless you want to be hit by wide margins in your trading. Is this the way it is with the market makers in commodities too?

  • Which online broker do you use?

I think I have a list of online brokers that I am looking in to, but would also like some input.
    - TD ameritrade ( higher commission that scott but the penny has me worried)
    - etrade ( Don’t know much about)
    - Scott ( flat commission)
    - Sharebuilder ( if I invest only on Tuesdays with automatic investing…. could you give pros and cons of this as well)

I am thinking about opening a small account (probably to lose all or most as I learn with around ,000 or ,000 to start.) and was wondering which will give me the most help in learning as well as execution. I plan on around and under, maybe penny if I really feel like losing :) Any advice would be GREAT.
I am looking at , options, and maybe commodities. But to begin with I am most interested in and stock options.

  • How should I start trading stocks online?

I’ve been using ’s stock simulator for some time for practice and will continue doing so. At the time I don’t have the to do real stock trades. However once I get a full time job I will be able to. I plan on starting out with 00 to 00 and buy/sell shares of one or two a week/month I am confident of with that . For a bit I won’t add or take out to the initial 00 but will re-invest the earnings and aim for a positive return rates. I guess I’ll start out by following trends and following the news day to day when researching .

Once I get the hang of it and have more I may add more to it.

Is this an ok plan? I’m still a complete beginner with /investing in general and trying to come up with a plan I can implement once I’m out of college. For now I’ll just practice.

In the mean time what is a good service I can buy and sell shares of stock quickly? How does it work online? How different is it from a stock simulator like how long does it take for sells/buys to go through since prices change dramatically ect.
I do plan on doing some long term investing but what is a good way to get started short term investing like If I wanted to do it as a hobby?
So lets say you bought a stock at .50 per share and decided to sell it at .05 per share but a few hours later it plummeted to .00 per share. Would your sale still be at .05/share when you clicked "sell" or would it still change. Basically is the sell/buy of the stock price online final when you submit the order? I’d like to think so but I don’t know how instant it is ect.

  • What type of APR do you as a stock trader typically earn trading stocks?

I realise that it changes every day but I was wondering how much you average. Do you do better than 15% in a particular year?

Do all your losses and wins typically beat the market?

I just started trading and I took a big loss but I pulled out early and repositioned and gained back some of my losses. I am just wondering how others here are doing to see what I am capable of.
