  At the beginning of each stock market open NYSE.com lists the days biggest gaining stocks. If you buy the biggest gaining stocks at the start of the day and sell them at the end of the day, is that a good way to day trade and make money?

  Is this just to allow banks to make more money?

  Also why do brokers seem to be so reluctant to move toward internet access? I know that there are internet trading accounts and internet brokers, I use one, but most banks seem to want you still to call them up to move stock and make it a pain to transfer funds around. It all seems a bit out of date – I mean the bear pits have gone and computers now do half the work, so why do so many brokers still need you to call them?

• How are dividends paid out?

  Very new to the whole stock market deal, so I was wondering, how do companies actually pay out dividends? I use Scottrade. I currently own 2 shares of Boeing. The ex-div-date is 8-9-06, the dividend date is 9-1-06. I should expect 1.20 per share on sept 1 then, correct? Will this just magically appear in my cash account when they are paid? boeing doesn’t actually mail checks to every individual shareholder do they? that would be ridiculous!

  i’ve always wanted to become an investor preferrably like warren buffett or those who are in the forbes 400, i mean big time investors, i heard that foreigners aren’t allowed to buy stocks in other countries is this true? but how does the big time investor do this? i heard they have stocks of companies from different countries? or did i miss anything?

  Might sound silly…but, if you were to "play" those stock market online games, the ones where you have "fake" money to invest with, and whether the real-time stock markets fall or go up depends on the money you make..

  now my question, is this not realistic? say you buy 100,000 shares of "company 1", this will not affect the companies shares to go up, because it’s fake money….but say you did buy 100,000 shares of "company 1", with real money, how much would the shares go up? or does that even affect the % to fluctuate?
