I am a college kid looking to buy while the market is low and I think that I have fairly good grasp on the economy and basic investment, but I am unclear about these terms. Please help!

The way the economy is going, I’m afraid I will loose all the money I have invested. I’ve already lost over 10% and it is alot of money. Should I cash out of my mutual fund investments and put it all in savings or money market accouts? I don’t have any stock.

Let’s say you invest and your stock value goes up 20 years from now, but that also means theres inflation so technically your not making a real profit..your just keeping up with the value of money 20 years from now..

I am looking at mutual funds’ prospectus and information on the web and I am unclear as to what is taken in consideration (loads, various fees, taxes – which bracket then), to calculate the return and if the caclcuation used are the same (i.e regulated) for all mutual funds.
