• Do most Uniform Gift Act to Minors accts in mutual funds charge yearly maintenance fees in addition to 12-1-b?

  I would like to start a UGAM fund for grand children but afraid fees would cut into actual donations to make it not worthwhile
  Can.t afford to give much but return is better than bank savings account or piggy bank.

  I have money in a Fidelity mutual fund called "cash reserves" The yield is 5.00% But the dividends this fund pays do not qualify for the lower tax rate

  I own shares in Bank Of America, this yields 5.30% but the dividends qualify for the lower rate.

  I’m guessing Bush enacted these cuts to give people an incentive to keep money in stocks rather than money markets (cash).

  I’d really appreciate it if someone could give me the actual differences.

  I have never sold a single share in 13 years and now want to sell 1/2 and hold in cash. How do most mutual fund companies report for cost basis…FIFO?

  I am salaried person. Do i need to inlcude earnings from Mutual Funds, FDs which have been invested a year back or 3 years back. I get my form 16 from my employer. The mutual funds are all in equity based and fds are in co-opearive banks where they have suggested to become shareholder to avoid taxation.

  Or merely un-necessary? I own a mutual fund that’s all about being invested in dividend-paying stocks that are well-rated companies. The strategy statement also mentions "taking advantage of tax regulations" as being a central principle and objective. Since this is in my tax deferred retirement accounts, that part doesn’t matter to me. Is it foolish? Or irrelevant?
