  • What is the difference in tax rates between qualified dividends & non qualified?

**My account at Fidelity is taxable**

I have in a Fidelity called "cash reserves" The yield is 5.00% But the dividends this fund pays do not qualify for the lower tax rate

I own shares in Bank Of America, this yields 5.30% but the dividends qualify for the lower rate.

I’m guessing Bush enacted these cuts to give people an incentive to keep in rather than markets (cash).

I’d really appreciate it if someone could give me the actual differences.

    Thanks in advance

  • Like everyone else, I’m taking a beating in my 401k. Stay conservative mutual funds or go money market?

I’m 63 years old and would like to retire in three years. I’ve lost 1/3 of my 401k which might make me rethink my retirement timeline. Anyone a financial advisor out there? Thanks…

  • I have money in mutual funds and want to transfer it to a money market account…?

In that same . The economy just looks terrible, and I don’t have the stomach to ride out years of this….it may be a bad decision but oh well – want to sleep at night.

What are the pitfalls, tax-wise of doing this, and how easy or quick is it to just transfer it all into a account of the same family?

  • Should I sell off my mutual funds?

The way the economy is going, I’m afraid I will loose all the I have invested. I’ve already lost over 10% and it is alot of . Should I cash out of my and put it all in savings or accouts? I don’t have any stock.

  • Where can I find a list of the top yielding Money Market Mutual Funds?

I have been looking on morningstar but can’t seem to find a list.

  • Will I have to pay any fee or any tax when transferring money from stocks to mutual funds?

I had in for almost a year, now getting hammered with losses I am transferring into a . Will there be any fees or taxes? HELPPPPP!

  • Does money market funds generate more income than mutual funds?

I’m looking for based on growth and income. I’m also looking into funds. Which one makes the most interest and profit?

  • I’m wanting to put my money somewhere where it can earn some good interest! mutual funds or money market acct?

I am 21 yrs. old. I’m trying to save for marriage and a car. I want to keep my where it will earn some significant interest. (not like my 1% savings acct. i have now!!!) what is the difference between and accounts? what are the downfalls and advantages of both? which should i get?

  • What is the differnce between money market funds and mutual funds? What risk is involved? Is either zero risk?

    Who has the highest rates?

  • Is this a bad time to invest a lot in the stock market?

I have a lot of my in a fund earning about 5.5% a year. I just got approval from the company I work for to invest with another B/D, so I was thinking of taking the out and putting it into a trading account with mostly ETFs.

It seems like the market has been rallying lately so I’m afraid of coming in at the top. Am I better off waiting for a down day? I know that if you lose a large % when you first invest it can be devastating for a portfolio.

  • What is some good literature to learn a little bit about mutual funds?

I’m wanting to start a Roth IRA and at the same time start some (relatively) short term (5 years) investing. I’m hoping to invest enough and invest well enough to have enough to buy a modest house outright when I cash it out. If I put my into a market averaging 3.5% interest, I should have about %80K in 4 years. I’m hoping to invest and get at least 10% interest.

  • Should I sell my mutual funds now?

There might be a risk of recession coming. Of course, nobody knows if there will be a recession but there is a good chance.
I know is long term. Is it a good idea to sell it now, pocket the gain, put the in market and buy it cheap if recession does happen?

  • How are mutual funds held in 401k protected?

The govt is guaranteeing the market funds value.

But how are they normally protected? I know value fluctuates.
What happens if a fund company goes under?

Is it protected by SIPC, like the accounts are?

  • What happen's if my FA forgot to execute a transaction of an exchange in mutual funds 6 month ago?

Six month’s ago (May 19, 2009) I solicited my FA to exchange my market to a more aggressive funds (latin american and china equity ) but he forgot to made the exchange, obviously the funds are up a huge percentage, but my is still in mmkt’s.

is there a rule, regulation or law that protects me against claims five month ago??

  • I have a questions about Seth IRA and Mutual Shares Mutual funds?

My investor wants me to put a portion of my in a seth IRA and mutual shares . I just want to know if this would be a good investment , so far I have only dabbled in cd’s and market accounts.

  • Money market mutual funds versus On-line savings account?

Hi there … Assuming one gets the same yield (pre-tax) from & on-line savings accounts, is there any advantage of one over the other? For example, is the tax treatment of earnings different? Apart from feedback, if u can refer me to any article/publication, that would be gr8 too. Thanks, in advance, for your help!

  • What's the tax rate on dividends from money market mutual funds?

I’m trying to figure out whether to put some liquid savings in an on-line savings account on which, based on my understanding, the interest is taxable at the marginal income tax rate …. OR in a market which pays dividends … what’s the tax rate applicable on these dividends?

  • Mutual funds, money market, how much do I need to have to start out?

How much do I need to have to start a account? How much to purchase a ? Can I make small deposits into either one of these?
I don’t have credit cards. I want to invest. I need to know how much you can start out with these two items, and can you make regular deposits.
