I’m 24 and a beginner invester and I’m still trying to develop my own . From analyzing stock charts I have noticed that whenever the slow stochastics of a stock bottoms out, there is generally a rebound or rise in the price of the stock as shown here:

    http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/CBasedLifeform/BottomedoutStochasticsvsdecreasingM.jpg

I was thinking I could grow my investment that way. That is, simply look for whose slow stochastics have bottomed out and put my into those stock and sell once the stochastics have reached near 80. But I do find that in some instances, the price does not go up, as shown here:

So I’m wondering how do I know whether or not the price will go up? Is there an additional indicator that I need to use to tell me this?

  • Regarding Day Trading and Forex?

Background: Fundamentals, with an out of the Graham playbook (by distressed, unloved or otherwise underpriced securities). Risk is minimized by having a margin of safety, higher upside than down, and by buying into companies that can be understood and predicted down the line.

However, finding a good opportunity tends to leave at least some cash floating around. Aside from dumping it into a placeholder stock like BRK.B, moneymarket, etc. I am interested in utilizing, to some small degree, daytrading.

    Basically:
    (1) How is risk managed in security day trading? Forex trading?

    (2) Do the few successful traders operate by intuition or determinism?

    (3) How wide of a scope to most traders take? Ten ? One hundred? All of them? Similarly, how wide of a scope do forex’ers employ?

    (4) Is there a way to get a hold of raw market data, outside of the wacky software like eSignal, etc?

Please do not try and pitch a trading system. Thanks.

  • Advice on Stock Trading / Investing strategy ?

Im a finance major and have some experience in the , read a lot and still am. Now im in the process of formulating / updating my strategy. I went in last week and did fairly well, 8% on my capital when the market was down 2.5 % by end of the week. I diversified (about a stock in every industry) and had an exit strategy in place mainly for stop loss. I lost on a couple of buys but made up with the rest.

Now i need some Professional input on part of my strategy . Im thinking that whenever i exit a stock (mainly small caps) with a profit, invest "my profit" in bigger solid companies that are down right now . Ex. walmart, msft, intl, sbux, McDonald’s etc. And leave those in my portfolio and hopefully let my profit run and consider them a long term investment. I want to keep reinvesting my original capital and may be add in more to my capital whenever i can. Is that a good idea? i have another income so i don’t need my profits. So would this hopefully increase my capital in the long run given that these large companies i mentioned are undervalued right now?

Sorry for the long description, any input is highly appreciated. I need a Professional traders / investors opinion
