• I'm new to share buying and have just joined up with Bell Direct; any advice on first time share buying?

  I’m 23yo, and have over ,000aud in the bank and would like to invest maybe a couple of Thou in shares.

  I’ve signed up with Bell Direct (https://www.belldirect.com.au/) as they seem to only charge per transaction and no percentage as commission.

  I’m so unbelievably novice in this, woke up this morning and felt like having a go, I need "Investing for Dummies"

  A few companies i’m interested in are Telstra, Nokia, Coles/Myer, ANZ bank, and Coca-Cola. These are brands I feel comfortable with.

  I was thinking maybe put money into these accounts for around 5 years.

  Any advice or tips would be appreciated, I have 3 days before my account gets verified so will like to aquire as much knowledge as possible.

  I am reading Stock Investing for Dummies. Although it is helpful, I need an online course taught by an actual person because I’m not absorbing all of the information just by reading about it. Thanks!

• Investing for dummies?

  I am planning on going into investing. I have a little extra money and i’m still in college and i want to set up some sort of cushion for my future. I was thinking of investing but the thing is i have no idea what to do. I dont know how i can tell how much a share is, what kind of industries i should look at to invest in or how i even go about buying a share. Can someone please give me some professional advice on this because it is my money and i dont just want to throw it away. also other things i would like to know or get answered if you will is what should i be looking for when it comes to me buying stocks and stuff.   I am very interested in investing, but I really don’t know how or what the benefits. How does it work in simple terms? I guess I need to read "Investing for Dummies" or something. Basically, if I put towards a stock, if the company is still around in 10 years will I make a bunch of money? Or if I invest in something like Hannah Montana, will I not get anything in ten years since she won’t be popular?

  I tried calling the TD amertrade #, but he was explaining it all to me about ticker codes (I have no clue how find one) and the three prices, I didn’t even understand enough to pretend like I knew what he was talking about.

  I only want invest a little $, (under 0) becuase I’ve never invested before with anyone. but of course no broker would talk to me for that amount, but really, it’s all i’m comfortable loosing.

  Is there anyway I can find this stuff out, like a class I can I take or a book I can read? (btw, i already have online investing for dummies, it might as well have been writen in greek for all I understood.)

  i’m totally on my own here.

  besides "investing for dummies" are there any other books someone would suggest as a great start for investing on your own using vanguard/ameritrade/etc. mutual funds, small cap stocks, etc. i want to know how to start, how to manage, and how to know when to get out. thanks for your suggestions! my goals are for long term and short term, id like to have a diversified portfolio
