A put in a naturally falling market would yield much more profit as the market would fall much faster than it does now, right? So, as the US Government has put in trading rules to limit overall market losses in a day before taking action, and by investing some to keep losses lower in banking , aren’t they helping to make a "soft landing" which is what Greenspan and Bernanke and company want?
A hard landing would be if the Fed let everything go, if the SEC let everything go and the market could drop to whatever value it went to in a day, no stops, no holes barred. Obviously that is not happening. Obviously something or somebody is maintaining about a 250-300 point drop and no more per day!

what are you talking about. The feds are not buying stocks, nor have they changed any trading rules. We ultimately all want a soft landing at all possible. If this is a soft landing, iI’d hate to see a hard one. tba
