Instead of having several effects pedals everywhere in the garage, i recently invested in a decent effects software, and it runs fine on my laptop through headphones, but can outputting the sound through a PA or huge amplifier cause damage to my sound card or my laptop in general? the reason why i ask is because my neighbor blew out his home theater system by connecting speakers to an amp with too much power.

thanks.

    shouldnt be a problem. but if you amplify a high input signal, just turn it all down before you plug it in.

    as long as you run the amp OUT of ur laptop its fine.. just dont hook the amp up going into it.

    yes its okie, but for headphone output;
    make sure you put the audio level in the laptop some where you can just hear it. and then increase it slowly.
    Audio output, it wouldnt be a problem.

    Yes. His problem was a result of the opposite end of what you are trying to do.
