I want to add a real estate portion to my roth IRA, but am unsure of what to buy. What are some examples of or that deal with real estate?

Stocks – Brandywine (BDN), HRPT (HRP), Canadian Apartment Properties REIT (OTC: CDPYF), Mid-America Apartment REIT (MAA)
Funds – Cohen & Steers has many. They are considered among the experts on REITS.
Third Ave funds, T. Rowe Price, Fidelity, and Vanguard are just a few other families that have real estate funds. Check their web sites for details.

Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac are the big ones, although they have taken a lot of flak recently so I think you would be better off getting into contact with an IRA firm where you can expect solid advice, especially since they would know all the big changes in those particular industries.
