Uniform Transfer to Minor Act aka UTMA is a type of account that allows an adult to gift money to a minor, whether or not you are eligible to access the account without custodian permission/approval depends on your state of residence. Most states age of majority is 21, but some do have it at 18, you need to check for your specific states’ rule. Just an FYI this is a taxable account if you sell it, you will pay taxes on it.
