Holidays do becuase big money doesn’t like to keep there money in the market over holidays because you do not know what info will come out about the company you bought stock in.If it goes down in pre market you will not be able to get rid of your stock in time before you lose to much money.Right now the market is over bought and do for a major correction down.Buy gold or silver to hedge against the market going down soon and inflation because of the weak dollar.

Yes, but most holidays the market is closed. Most companies are having sales and making income which is good on the sheets. Retail markets and technology markets are good ones to invest in for quick dough over holidays. Scottrade also allows for pre-market and after market trading which comes in handy. (and $7 trades)
*Note the reports coming out this fall are expected to be down so IF you are long term investor, wait until after the montage of selling and bear market.

Yes holidays does affect market. There will be lesser people who are investing. Most of them will channel their money to festive preparations. You will see a slow-down in the stock market as buying and selling of stocks will taper off.
Based on the second part of your question, I assumed that you are likely to be new to investing. My advice is not to trade in other markets as yet. Look to your own local stock exchange and build up your experience. When you have gain sufficient experience you may then venture to other stock exchanges.
