If you are living in the united states, can you invest in the without an SS number?

Can you use a TIN or a business ID number instead?

More inputs appreciated, thanks

shouldnt be a problem as long as you pay your taxes! any place that sells stock you you will be 100% reporting it to the irs under whatever name or business you give. many public corperations own stock in other companies business id is should be fine. you certainly dont have to be a citizen if that is what your asking. the exchanges and most of the companies are world wide. hope that helps

A business ID number is the same as a social security number as it recognizes the business as will be necessary to collect taxes.

The reality is that the brokerage MUST attribute stock sales to an IRS-recognizable entity. Every time I sell a stock which happens to be every few days, the numbers of shares, identity of the stock-issuing company and the gains are recorded and forwarded to the IRS. There is no way to escape this. My social security number must be attached to every transaction attributable to my stock portfolio accounts.
