    One thing you have to think about is what you mean by "ethical" – environmentally conscious is more specific, but even there you have to look at each fund’s definition to see how close it is to yours. For example, some "socially responsible" funds specifically do not invest in companies that are involved in alcohol, tobacco or gambling (disregarding environmental factors, worker treatment, etc.). Others focus on firms that have a large % of women & minorities in executive positions.

    The site below is a good place to start – you can choose which parameters you’d like to focus on, and it will steer you toward the most appropriate funds.

    for these type of funds, there is usually a higher fee
    and unsteady returns. Look up the 5 letter codes on
    Morningstar.

    Not many funds, but a few like Azzad Ethical Income, Azzad Ethical mid cap, Fidelity has an focused fund on environment called Fidelity Select Environmental Fund (FSLEX)
