Our church group is looking into investing in a new drum set for service/music. Electric or acoustic, we need some suggestions from actual drummers. I own a Tama (acoustic) set, but some of the other musicians want to go with the Roland touring set at 00. This may be more than congregation is willing to spend so i am researching other options. Any suggestions?

What scripture gives you this authority to introduce instruments of music to worship? That is adding to scripture. the early Christians did not do this because it was not commanded and us pagans did these things. The church was 600 years old before introducing instruments of music and it was the same year they elected the first Pope.
    S.D.

Edit To those ignorant of scripture and history the church was not established during Old Testement times King David did invent instruments of music and did incorperate them in worship but was also rebuked for this by the prophet Amos. Read your bible and you find that Amos was condemning practices of worship that was not accepted by God and in Amos 6: 5 That chant to the sound of the viol and invent to themselves instruments of musick like David.

The bible you all claim to believe condemns the use of musical instruments and the prophet Amos did in fact condemn David for it. Read it for yourselves before claiming the church in old Testement times used insturments.

The church did not exist in O.T times Jesus said he would Build his church. Also the study of the early church, the church Jesus built and established which is different than judiasm and different than the O.T.Law Which was nailed to the cross Colossians 2:14

If you study early church writings during the first through 6th centruy you find the eatly Christians rejected the use of musical instruments because it was not commanded in scripture and also because us pagans used these in our worship. Church history tells us it was not widely accepted and was considered heretical until the first Pope was elected 600 years after Christ.

Again I ask what Scripture gives any man the athority to introduce instruments. I have givenn scriptureagainst it but why is it Christians like to say the Wiccan does not know what he is talking about but then they merely have an opinion and no scripture. why is it me a Wiccan can show scripture against it but you all cannot show scripture for it. the writings of David are the only ones that say it is okay and we have already seen from the prophet Amos what God thought of that. the bible says God overlooked many things David did because he loved him and treated him special.

The addition of instruments of music is a different gospel than what Paul preached and read what he said about preaching a different gospel in Galations 1: 8,9

Tell the sheeple to dig a little deeper, or that if they don’t give/tithe the church 20% instead of 10% of their income they’re going to hell for eternity.

defenatly acoustic, and go for the roland even though it costs more it’ll last longer than a cheap one and the more portible it is the better. im no drummer but at our church we have a pretty cheap brand and so for youth church our drummer brings in his kit, but our kit is so hard to pack up and move.

Neither DW Drums, Gretsch, Hart, Ludwig, Mapex, Pacific, Pulse, Roland, Sonor, Tama, Taye nor Yamaha are mentioned by name in the Holy Book, yet Pearl are mentioned in Matthew 13:46 AND Revelation 21:21…

I believe the Lord is guiding your decision!

BTW, Jesus asked me to ask you to remind your fellow congregation members that $1,400 would feed an entire hungry village in the Central African Republic for about three months. Have a blessed day!

Why get a touring set when your group doesn’t tour?? Any used, acoustic drum set [from ebay or donated] will do provided you have a new set of skins and good, high-quality cymbals. And, if you must, mic it in for more volume or for recording purposes.

    Hope that helps.

    Peace be with you.
